Reclamo de responsabilidad
Solicitamos a las parteras/os firmar este reclamo de responsabilidad sobre el borrador, Estándar Global sobre la Educación Inicial en Enfermería y Partería (incluido; lamentablemente sólo está en inglés).
Actualmente, el modelo de educación de la partería, en el terreno internacional está en manos de la Organización Mundial de la Salud (OMS) y de la Sociedad de Honor de Enfermería.
La OMS ha consultado con parteras a nivel internacional y se han tomado como referencia sus documentos oficiales. Sin embargo, este documento está en su fase final y no ha sido aprobado por organizaciones internacionales que representan la partería : aún así la OMS considera oficializar el documento (información recibida en la Red de las agencias pertinentes) .
El reclamo de responsabilidad es para que el liderato sobre los asuntos de la educación de las parteras sea dirigido por las organizaciones que representan la profesión a nivel internacional.
La educación es un asunto interno y medular de toda profesión y sus miembros deben decidir sobre ella y protegerla. El objetivo de la OMS es establecer la educación básica de partería y enfermería en el año 2008.

Solicitamos respetuosamente que la sección de partería de la propuesta, Estándar Global sobre la Educación Inicial en Enfermería y Partería, sea referida a las agencias internacionales de parteras responsables sobre los asuntos internos de la profesión: para evaluar y aprobar la propuesta antes de que el documento de la OMS sea oficial. La educación es un asunto medular de cada profesión.

Responsibility Claim
We ask that all midwives sign this responsibility claim letter regarding the draft “ Global Standards for Initial Nursing and Midwifery Education” (draft included) .
At this time, the international midwifery educational model is in the hands of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Honor Society of Nursing.
The WHO consulted with midwives internationally and used their official documents as reference. But this document is a global proposal in its final stages that has not been approved by any international organization that represents midwifery. Even so, the WHO is considering making this document official (Information received by organizations involved).
The purpose of this responsibility claim is to ensure that the education of midwives is under the leadership of international organizations that represent the profession.
Education is an internal and fundamental matter of every profession and the members should be the ones to protect it and make decisions about it. The purpose of the WHO is to establish a basic education for midwives and nurses in 2008.
We appreciate your participation this week before the International Confederation of Midwives conference in Glasgow .

We respectfully request that the midwifery section of the proposal Global Standard for Initial Nursing and Midwifery Education be referred to the international midwifery agencies responsible for the internal matters of the profession: to evaluate and approve the proposal before this document becomes official. Education is a fundamental matter of every profession.
