Goals

To promote the humanization, and as a consequence of this, the rediscovery of what is normal during the childbearing and neonatal cycle.

To favor , from before pregnancy, the rights and the protagonist role of the delivering woman and the baby being born, offering them a secure, trustee and respectful environment, besides the technical skills of those who will be assisting them in this phase .

To recognise the potential of professional and traditional midwifery to reach this goal, paying attention to its necessities and realities, specially considering those who assist highly marginated populations.

To facilitate the beginning and progress of conducive strategies and actions towards the improvement of governmental programmes and policies research based.

To spread information and to carry out studies on beneficial models and practices in childbirth care, both in modern systems as well as rural and indigenous populations .

To incorporate World Health Organization recommendations on safe childbirth care
